Editing blog

During this class, we got a lot done. Editing went well. I went through all the footage and picked out the best of the clips. This didn’t take very long. I then dragged the best clips down to the editor. I put them in order of what happened too. Once we started to edit, I remembered we needed to get the music. I will talk about this process in the next paragraph. Once we got the music in, I had to cut all the footage down. I also had to make sure all the music fit into the time. We still haven’t finished it so next class I will make sure to finish it. We are actually sending the finished product to the teacher next class. We don’t have too much to do left, though.

As for the music portion, everything went well. During this process, we downloaded the music. Neither of us knew how to download music, so we learned some new solutions. We got it from YouTube and converted it to an mp3 file. We actually had no idea how to download the music so we had to look it up. Once we figured out how to do it, we imported the audio into the video we had edited so far. We also matched up the scenes to fit when the lyrics ended according to our story board. We had to delete the audio from when our clip ended to the actual end of the song. This was so that our song didn’t go over the 1:20 mark. We also had to cut a ton of footage that didn't fit the time.

Despite having more footage than the time, we managed to cut down around half of the footage. The hardest part for this process was matching up the cut scene shot. We had to find all the 5 second clips and make them around 1 second short. I wanted it to match up with the “no I can’t”s in the song. I thought this would be a good and cute idea. we would even have enough clips to make that happen. We haven’t stumbled along any problems yet. I’m very happy everything is going so well. This project is due Friday so hopefully we get everything done. In my opinion, everything is going well and I hope it keeps going well.

filming blog

During the break, we finished filming all the scenes. We actually expected it to take longer but to our surprise it didn't. We had to re-film some scenes due to lighting issues with times. But due to all the re-filming we had to do, we still finished in time. For the part of the song we filmed with sprinklers, the end, we decided to keep the first filming of it. Since it felt real and genuine because of their surprised reactions when they lit. For the other shots though, we had to do at least three takes so if one got messed up then we could use the other file. This time, we got a tripod with the attachment. We used that for all the shots if we could. We wouldn’t want our film being shaky or unstable.

For this filming session, we wanted to get it all done so the actors could have a free weekend. Because of what happened last time when we filmed, we made sure to check everything. Sure enough, there wasn’t anything missing from our bags. We were so happy when we checked the camera and saw nothing missing. All the filming went well and we even had time to spare. When we filmed, we decided to go to the park. That was our original plan for the first filming session, so we did it this time. Im very happy that we got all of the filming done in one day so that we didn't have to make the actors come over during the weekend. All though we got all the filming done, we haven't been able to edit yet. My partner forgot the camera at her house so we couldn't dump the film onto the computer.

When we started to film, we had to rush the actors getting ready. We didn't know how long it would take to film and we wanted to have enough time. By the time we got to the park, the sun was almost starting to set so we had to work quickly. When we finished the day time parts, the sun hadn’t even set yet, so we went back to the house and filmed the inside parts. Once we had done all of that, we walked back to the park and the sun had started setting. This was the perfect time to start filming the rest. By the time the sun had fully set, which was the perfect setting we wanted. After we filmed those, we got the sparklers, filmed those parts and hoped for the best. Once we finished, we stayed for a bit longer and played with the rest of the sparklers as a reward. When we got back, it was time for everyone to leave soon. We really did get a lot of work done in around 3 hours.
